Tearing the Sky final cover art

A lot has happened in a short period of time. Much like 2001‘s Australopithecine hero tossing his new bone club in the air, from this blog’s point of view, an orbiting satellite now descends.

In short, we have parted ways with Bad Moon Books. We were moving in different directions, and decided to find other paths to move forward. That being said, Roy and team were very supportive of Tearing the Sky, and offered a host of resources for getting it into your hands. Also, our artist John Picacio had to back out of the project due to independent reasons, but not before contributing greatly to the manuscript and suggesting a handful of artists. So first things first, thank you very much Roy and John, the project is much stronger for your parts of the relay race.

Instead, we’re going full indie. We already had a plan and team in place to publish Tearing the Sky this year, so we’re sticking to it and self-publishing the book. The marketing plan was already fully developed by Angela Nibbs of Maven PR. She is orchestrating the reveal happening in the next two weeks. In terms of production, we are using Amazon.com’s print on demand service called CreateSpace and their Kindle publishing platform. Our new artist is one of John’s recommendations, Kenn Brown of Mondolithic Studios. He’s already finished the cover art, pictured above, and the cover design. Our copy editor Palmer Gibbs has completed her review of the manuscript. Friend and fellow writer David Jedeikin, author of Wander the Rainbow, helped us get up to speed on the digital typesetting process, and the novel interior has now been uploaded to CreateSpace.

So we’re back on track and almost there. We’ll be talking about the story when the press release goes out in the next couple of weeks, and the book will be available soon thereafter in print and digital form. Stay tuned!
